NBAA is accepting applications for the 2023 Flying Safety Awards, the association’s prestigious program that recognizes the high safety standards maintained by the business aviation community.

For seven decades, NBAA’s Flying Safety Awards have brought global attention to business aviation’s accomplishments by acknowledging its members’ exceptional achievements in maintaining safe flying operations.

This year, the association is again awarding individual employees and owners in four safety categories – pilot, maintenance/avionics technician, aviation support services and schedule/licensed dispatcher – in addition to three company-level awards for corporate business flying, commercial business flying and aviation maintenance.

Applications are being accepted through July 21 and NBAA representatives can submit applications for company-level awards while individuals must nominate themselves.

“The upgrade to our membership systems has allowed us to take a fresh look at our Flying Safety Awards program, and this year’s awards bring a new, holistic approach to the recognition of the companies and individuals that embody the industry’s high safety standards,” said NBAA Director, Safety and Flight Operations Mark Larsen, CAM.

One of the most prominent enhancements to the awards is the removal of a three-year qualifying period for applicants.

“Our Flying Safety Awards have always served as a testament to the high degree of professionalism in business aviation, and by now accepting applications from all eligible members annually, we are better able to recognize and celebrate the best qualities of our community,” noted Larsen.

In response to member requests, the Flying Safety Awards will also be issued digitally to awardees to increase the visibility of their achievements and make NBAA awards more environmentally sustainable. Plagues will continue to be awarded at the NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) — which this year is being held Oct. 17-19 in Las Vegas, NV — to recipients of awards for significant milestones of safe flying for more than 50 years.
