Exhibitors at the 2021 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in Las Vegas, NV, are demonstrating their commitment to helping reduce waste and making the show more sustainable by signing up for the association’s new Green Pledge program for the show.

To participate, exhibitors agree to select at least five sustainability options listed on the NBAA-BACE Green Pledge checklist. There are scores of ways exhibitors can help make the show more environmentally friendly, including reducing the amount of print marketing materials they distribute, using LED lighting, installing reusable flooring in booth exhibits and more.

The NBAA-BACE Green Pledge checklist covers 35 options in six categories – energy conservation, booth build and graphics, shipping and packaging practices, waste management, marketing materials and food and beverage.

Numerous companies have already signed up for the NBAA-BACE Green Pledge, said Courtney Easton, NBAA director of marketing. Among them is Garmin International, which has made a company-wide commitment to supporting sustainability efforts.

“As a part of Garmin’s mission, we view sustainability as an active responsibility,” said Paul Keller, Garmin’s manager of trade shows and events. “It is great to see NBAA and our fellow exhibitors taking this important step forward to help make 2021 NBAA-BACE and other events more environmentally sustainable.”

NBAA also is supporting the effort in numerous ways, including by not publishing a print directory and offering it via mobile app, which is available for iPhone and Android devices.

“There are so many different ways people can become more sustainable, so we’re really encouraging them to do that,” added Easton. “Because there can be so much waste generated at these types of events, we are looking at ways for NBAA-BACE to become more sustainable.”

NBAA will recognize Green Pledge supporters in several ways, including listing their company logo on the NBAA-BACE sustainability webpage, during the Day 1 Keynote address on event digital signage and with a Green Pledge icon, which will be displayed next to a participating company’s name on the online exhibit hall floor plan.

Any person who attends an NBAA convention, conference, seminar or other program grants permission to NBAA, its employees and agents (collectively "NBAA") to record his or her visual/audio images, including, but not limited to, photographs, digital images, voices, sound or video recordings, audio clips, or accompanying written descriptions, and, without notifying such person, to use his or her name and such images for any purpose of NBAA, including advertisements for NBAA and its programs.
