Las Vegas, NV, Oct. 24, 2013 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and Corporate Angel Network (CAN) last night raised $440,000 through a charity benefit held to support CAN’s life-saving flights for cancer patients.

The funds for CAN were raised through an annual event titled the NBAA/CAN Soiree, which takes place at the conclusion of the second day of NBAA’s Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition. The event featured live and silent auctions and a concert performance by The Fab Four, a Beatles tribute band.

A nonprofit organization, Corporate Angel Network is the only charitable organization in the United States whose sole mission is to help cancer patients access the best possible treatment for their specific type of cancer by arranging free travel to treatment across the country using empty seats on business aircraft. This not only improves the patients’ chances of survival but at the same time, it reduces their emotional stress, physical discomfort and financial burden.

“Once again, NBAA is honored to provide a venue where the business aviation community comes together to support the work of Corporate Angel Network in helping cancer patients,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. “Our sincere thanks to those who attended the Soiree and bid on the live and silent auctions as part of the fundraising effort.”

CAN Executive Director Peter Fleiss agreed, stating: “We’re thankful to all those who made this event a success with their generous contributions, as well as to the people and companies who provide seats on their business aircraft to help these seriously ill patients throughout the year.”

Every year, CAN is the exclusive beneficiary of the NBAA/CAN Soiree at NBAA’s Convention.
