Washington, DC, October 10, 2000 – Only one year after the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) launched its AvKids (Aviation for Kids) Program at the Association’s 1999 Annual Meeting & Convention in Atlanta, the program is poised to move forward on several fronts.

At NBAA’s 53rd Annual Meeting & Convention in New Orleans, Association officials are announcing plans to extensively enhance AvKids.com, and they have begun to distribute a new brochure explaining what is available on the improved Web site.

AvKids.com is considered the key to distributing to students and teachers the educational materials that will help attract the next generation of business aviation professionals. The site features a searchable database of children’s books on aviation, resources designed to help teachers communicate aviation concepts, hot links to youth programs sponsored by other aviation organizations, and exciting new games.

Recently, a new publication titled the AvKids Activity Guide and Teacher’s Resource was added to AvKids.com, along with a speaker’s outline for business aviation professionals who have been asked to speak at a Career Day at their local elementary school. In addition, speakers now can obtain, at cost, AvKids merchandise to distribute as part of their presentations.

In addition, the Association is planning AvKids Days and a children’s book on business aviation.

NBAA represents the aviation interests of over 6,200 companies which own or operate general aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of their business, or are involved with business aviation. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion — a number that is about half the gross domestic product — and employ more than 19 million people worldwide. The NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention is the world’s largest display of civil aviation products and services.
