Washington, DC, Oct. 17, 2013 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) will host middle school, high school and college students from around the Las Vegas metropolitan area who are seeking information about the near-limitless career opportunities in the business aviation industry during Careers in Business Aviation Day, to be held on Oct, 24 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in conjunction with the 2013 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA2013).

As part of Careers in Business Aviation Day, NBAA Member volunteers will take groups around the exhibit floor to highlight the wide variety of business aviation career options. Students will be able to mingle with about 25,000 attendees – including flight department personnel, aircraft manufacturers, flight crews and business leaders – and speak with hundreds of aviation professionals and university representatives who may offer their valuable perspectives about how to turn a passion for aviation into a rewarding and fulfilling career.

Careers in Business Aviation Day will begin with a dedicated general session for students featuring special guest speakers Bonnie Dunbar, a former NASA astronaut who logged more than 50 days in orbit over five space shuttle flights, and Barrington Irving, the youngest pilot to fly solo around the world. Both will share their experiences in the aviation and aerospace industries, to inspire students to follow their own paths into the skies and stars.

Among those confirmed to attend Careers in Business Aviation Day are 190 students and their teachers from Rancho High School in North Las Vegas, which has collaborated with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) program. Additionally, 43 airframe and powerplant (A&P) students from the Las Vegas campus of the Aviation Institute of Maintenance will participate, along with 10 instructors and staff.
