WASHINGTON, DC, October 29, 2007 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), in coordination with its Schedulers & Dispatchers Committee, today announced the approval of two new Schedulers Professional Development Program (SPDP) courses, which are being offered by two different educational providers.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) is offering “Introduction to Meteorology,” which meets SPDP Objective FO3. This course is available online, and ERAU can be contacted directly by those who wish to sign up.

Universal Weather and Aviation, Inc. is offering “Basic Principles of Weather and Aircraft Performance,” which meets SPDP Objectives F03 and F10. This course is available in a classroom format, and can be scheduled through Universal Weather and Aviation, Inc.

As an offshoot of NBAA’s main Professional Development Program (PDP), the Schedulers Professional Development Program was developed to prepare business aviation professionals for selected roles within flight departments. The mission of SPDP is to offer business aviation schedulers and dispatchers a formal training program recognized within the industry as teaching a uniform set of skills.

SPDP is designed to enhance knowledge, encourage personal growth and increase the scheduler/dispatcher’s value to the flight department. It encourages participation in coursework, honors outstanding participants and rewards those seeking careers in business aviation. Courses are available in scheduled one- or two-day formats, and several are also available in distance-education formats.

NBAA invites educational providers to submit new courses for SPDP approval. Once a course is approved for SPDP use, all students who complete the course receive recognition from NBAA and credit toward advancement in the program.
