Fred Adams – CAM Fellow

Fred Adams, CAM has more than 50 years of aviation experience and has flown over 23,450 accident-free hours. In 2020, Adams received the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award for dedicated service to aviation safety. Currently he is a Flight Instructor, Sr. for FlightSafety International at their Orlando Training Center. He serves as a Training Center Evaluator (TCE) for Citation 500 Series aircraft.

Adams previously worked for Basin Electric Power Cooperative, starting its flight department. During that time, he helped launch a world-class, paid, flight internship program with the help of Dean John Odegard and Ken Polovitz from the University of North Dakota along with the support of Basin Electric’s senior management.

Adams served on the Certified Aviation Manager Governing Board for nine years and was in the first group to sit for national certification examination in 2003. He was part of the internal CAM group that lead to the CAM program becoming nationally accredited and five years later helped in the first re-accreditation effort.

Adams has also been associated with collegiate aviation accreditation since 2006 and was on the Board of Trustees for the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) for 10 years. During this time, he received the Richard W. Taylor Industry Award, which is provided to those who work to advance quality aviation education worldwide through accreditation and leadership.

Adams was associated with the North Dakota Aviation Council for over 23 years, where he held multiple leadership and committee positions. His leadership was instrumental in the formation of the North Dakota Aviation Hall of Fame.
