Connect on LinkedInJacob Velky always had a passion for aviation and space, learning to fly in high school and pursuing a degree at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. An internship at Duke Energy Corporation turned into a major career kickstart. Velky was first a pilot in the flight department before taking on management roles and launching the company’s unmanned aircraft unit. Now, Velky manages the aviation maintenance and scheduling teams, as well as the company’s commercial travel group.
An internship opportunity turned into a really exciting and fulfilling career for Velky, who says he enjoys continuing the circle of mentorship.
“It’s very rewarding to reach back and help the next generation find their careers in business aviation, just as people helped me years ago,” said Velky.
