February 15, 2011

Dear NBAA Member Representative,

This message has been sent to provide an update about the Block Aircraft Registration Request (BARR) program, which I initially discussed in a February 7th message to all Member Representatives about the BARR.

As you may recall, in my February 7th message, I noted that Department of Transportation (DOT) officials are conducting a review of the BARR program, and as part of that review, the Association has been given an opportunity to gather and provide information to the department by February 15th.

That effort was completed earlier today, and the DOT has informed NBAA that, prior to making any decision to limit eligibility for the BARR program, it will issue a notice inviting interested persons to submit comments on such limitations. NBAA has no further information at this time, but will immediately forward that notice to its Members as soon as it becomes available.

As NBAA has noted previously, we believe in the BARR program, because we believe there are many circumstances in which companies have wholly legitimate reasons for wanting to prevent unknown parties from tracking their movements.

As I did in my previous message, I again invite you to contact NBAA’s Operations Service Group (OSG) with questions. Our OSG can be reached at (202) 783-9250 or info@nbaa.org.

Thank you once again for your time and attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
Ed Bolen
