NBAA Answers Operators’ Questions About FAA’s New Flight Privacy Protection Tools

Dec. 23, 2019

As the Jan. 1 ADS-B deadline draws closer, NBAA’s Heidi Williams and Doug Carr answer operators’ questions about how to maintain their privacy utilizing the FAA’s new Limiting Aircraft Data Displayed (LADD) and Privacy ICAO Address programs, both of which were advocated for by NBAA. LADD builds upon earlier privacy programs, but will “tremendously enhance an operator’s assurance of where their FAA-derived tracking data is going,” Carr noted. Also, if an operator previously registered for the Block Aircraft Registration Request (BARR) program, they are automatically transitioned to LADD, noted Willems, who also provided tips for those who will not be ADS-B compliant by the beginning of the new year.

In this episode of NBAA Flight Plan, host Rob Finfrock speaks with:

  • Heidi Williams, director of air traffic services and infrastructure, NBAA
  • Doug Carr, vice president of regulatory and international affairs, NBAA
  • NBAA Flight Plan is sponsored by Schedaero, the software that elevates your flight operations.
