While the effects on business aviation from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine pale in comparison to the situation on the ground for those directly impacted by the fighting, the crisis has nevertheless touched the industry in many ways. “From a business aviation perspective, when you talk about worst case scenario, we’re at a point now where I don’t see the airspace restrictions getting worse,” said Steve Thorpe, an international captain and director of standards and training at Merck. “It’s going to be the cost to the economy, and will that take time to sort itself out.”
