Several recent developments – including a new NBAA-supported blender’s tax credit – have bolstered efforts to increase production of sustainable aviation fuel to 3 billion gallons annually in the U.S. by 2030. “We are now moving from the early development and proof-of-concept phases into a growth phase,” notes sustainable fuels expert Dr. Lourdes Maurice. “We are seeing more and more players coming into the ecosystem. And we are starting to see that exponential growth that we have seen in all kinds of [other] renewable energies, from electric vehicles to solar.”
In this episode of NBAA’s “Flight Plan,” host Rob Finfrock speaks with:
- Steve Csonka, executive director of the Commercial Aviation Alternative Fuels Initiative (CAAFI)
- Dr. Lourdes Maurice, sustainable aviation advisor and past executive director for the FAA Office of Environment and Energy
- Nancy Young, environmental and sustainability policy and legal professional and former vice president of environmental affairs at Airlines for America (A4A)
