Las Vegas, NV, Oct. 10, 2021 – Business aviation’s long-standing commitment to sustainability and carbon emissions reduction will be on full display at the National Business Aviation Association’s (NBAA’s) 2021 Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) this week in Las Vegas.

The industry’s sustainability focus is  evident in a number of new efforts announced ahead of business aviation’s main event.

  • NBAA-BACE’s all-new carbon-offset program will make it one of the world’s largest carbon-neutral events. NBAA has joined with Boston-based company 4AIR to fund a portfolio of carbon-offset credits that will mitigate all convention attendees’ travel to and from the event and the greenhouse gas emissions at NBAA-BACE.
  • Nearly 100 exhibitors signed a brand-new Green Pledge to commit to limiting their environmental footprint for the convention.
  • A new market-based initiative known as “book and claim” will make low-carbon sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) available to those operators flying to NBAA-BACE, even if SAF is not available from their departing airport. For flights outbound from NBAA-BACE, SAF will be available at Henderson Executive Airport and, for the first time, at McCarran International Airport. Use of SAF can reduce aviation’s lifecycle carbon emissions by up to 80%. More information about book and claim is available in this fact sheet.

During the show itself, business aviation’s long-standing sustainability agenda will be in clear focus.

  • On Monday, Oct. 11 at 9:30 a.m. PT, NBAA will hold a news conference at Henderson Executive Airport with Clark County leaders to discuss industry sustainability efforts and showcase the availability of sustainable aviation fuel. Details are in the media advisory.
Location: Henderson Executive Airport, 3500 Executive Terminal Drive, Henderson, NV
  • On Tuesday, Oct. 12, NBAA kicks off the 2021 Business Aviation Sustainability Summit, which includes:

Location: Las Vegas Convention Center, 7:30 a.m. PT, Room W325
    • A luncheon panel moderated by acclaimed aviation and aerospace correspondent, director and producer Miles O’Brien, who will lead a conversation with Brian Sherbacow, president and CEO, Alder Fuels, and Omer Bar-Yohay, co-founder and CEO, Eviation Aircraft. The lunch will also include a presentation introducing the National Aeronautic Association’s (NAA’s) first Sustainable Wings program recognizing excellence in business aviation sustainability.
Location: Las Vegas Convention Center, noon – 1:30 p.m. PT, W325
    • An afternoon program with two sessions devoted to business aviation’s sustainable future. A second panel will discuss the innovative ways companies can reduce their aircraft’s emissions. Read more about the speakers.
Location: Las Vegas Convention Center, 2 – 3:45 p.m. PT, W4 (exhibit floor).
    • A closing reception where industry leaders will gather to network following the day’s events.
